By Spline count, I am referring to the differential yoke-the part that comes out of the front of the differential that hooks up to your drive shaft. The original Dana 60 (that I had-4:56) was a ten toothed spline on the diff. yoke, the 1972 I swapped in had a 29 spline diff. yoke. There should be a tag on the diff with the gearing ratio...usually bolted under one of the inspection cover bolts.

Well, if it's a swap out of a 1966, it should likely all bolt up perfect-not sure about the diff yoke though...my posts were discussing a 1972 Dana 60 into a '66 F250. In the later 60's/early 70's, Ford changed the drums-made them slightly wider and beefed up the rear end a bit. Ultimately, rebuild the drums and drum hardware before getting it onto the truck-I replaced the lines too...other than that, not sure what your Dana 60 looks like-it may have the same diff yoke as the old one...?...or maybe it's a different spline count?
