Hi mark, my names tim. i happened to be doing some googling and stumbled upon some of your reply's and expertise with fords and transmissions.

ill try to keep this simple to not waste time, what i have in a 2011 f150,4x4 5.0L, with the 6r80 trans, for reasons i need a new transmission, i found a match from a 2012 f150 5.0L 4x4. from Ebay

before they ship it to me, via ground i wanted to ask you if there would be any issues that you can thing of like it not fitting or the electronics part being different or anything like that.

    thanks -Tim

Do you think using the EPBV with a torque converter lock up Solonoid switch caused my TC to fail? Should I disconnect it? I am getting a TORCO ultra low stall speed, Billet front plate, 3 clutch plate and I don't want to destroy it also.
    Thanks again for your help.

Unfortunately I don't know anything about aftermarket converters. I've heard of all except the Pro King, but I don't know anything about any of them.

So it ends up my TC was shot, but they have never seen this kind of Torque Converter (no surprise) My mechanic says he might have a used but good TC from a ford Lariat that might work. So it looks like im just going to bite the bullet and buy one from Amazon, and have my brother ship it to me. can you recommend an aftermarket one for me. I am constantly loaded with a 2000# camper, and I am driving in the Andes mountains to the amazon jungle. I think my options are DACCO, TORCO, AND TCI from amazon and Pro King from O'Reilys

Yes, i have a switch that grounds the lockup solenoid in the EPBV circuit. From what I can interpret (my Spanish is only OK at best) is that they will open the Torque Converter, "fix the parts" and weld it back together with a special welding machine made for TC's I'll ask them to replace the piston (if possible)
and i believe they would need to replace the friction plate(s).... anything else i should advise them to look for?

P.S. thank you soooo much for all your previous posts, this problem all started from a bad connection to the valve body, then MLPS... i was able to get through Bolivia into Chile thanks to your posts

    Hi Mark,

I am Driving a 97 F-250 7.3l PSD from California to the Tip of South America. I made it to Chile but now i'm having Problems. I get a Slip Fault when in overdrive. I have a EPBV circuit so with the key on engine off, I can hear the solenoid energize when the switch is activated. But when in gear not moving, activating the switch does not stall the motor any more.
I have performed a line pressure test Idle and Stall.. all in range, and a stall test (2200 RPM)

Am I on the right track by pulling my TC and Having it "re-built" in Santiago Chile?

(my only option because o one in south America has a TC for me. And to buy ne from the states and have it shipped would be too expensive and take too long)

    Mark... Phil Butler ere..

You sure seem to be an knowledgeable expert in the Ford arena ....could help me with my current problem?...

    Here it is.

I had a 97 F250 with a blown 5.4L engine... Replaced it with a used 5.4L engine from a Expedition (Not sure what year). Ran fine for a couple thousand miles and then the tranny went out.... Parked it. Had a friend call yesterday and said the engine blew in his 2000 Expedition 5.4L and offered me the tranny free. I need to know if the engine that is currently in my F 250 is compatible with his transmission. Here's the Info:

Label on the valve cover reads:

    416 02-24-97 5.4L

    His Expedition 2000 5.4L (I think it's a 4R 100)

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

You seem to be extensively knowledgeable when it comes to transmissions. My 2006 Ford F450 DRW has a problem. I was going down one hill and then up the next but nothing. No gears at all, no loud noises or anything from tranny whatsoever. I could see the linkage moving but nothing at all and it felt like it was not switching gears(like the linkage was disconnected) but in any gear( reverse, drive, 1,2,3) it would move very very slow(1 inch a minute if your lucky) at very high RPMS. Any help would be appreciated
