Okay so dropped this half phaser project on my doorstep -2004 F150 5.4L 3V. new parts and a bucket of bolts. So my question is I put the lash adjusters in, rollers on, cam on. snuged down. cam phaser on. so my question is how do I know if my timing is right. how do I line it up. I have read if you have the lower crankshart gear at 6 oclock with the little dot, and run the chain up so it spans the L or R .. that's all that's needed .. I don't want valves bent .. is there a way to make sure the valves and cams are in the right positon. thanks

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I just noticed that you pm'ed me. A lock out kit is cheap but the program you will need to reprogram the pcm might be quite expensive. If the phaser is bad you may have other bad parts as well. How many miles are on the truck? You may need to look at the timing chains and tensioners also. The lock out kit will make it so the timing will not advance or retard with acceleration. You mileage will suffer a little though. A lockout kit and program could cost upwards of $700+(you have to do both sides)and if the program has any issues, you have the whole software issue to deal with. 2 new Ford OEM phasers will run around $400. So it's just a choice of what you want to do. If you want you can give me a call at 630-290-2202. My name is Tim I'll try to answer any other questions you might have. FYI I don't give my number out very often so please keep it to yourself. Hope to talk to you soon.

Hello Sir. I just read a post titled 5.4 3v tick/rattle plan of attack with two videos by F-150Torqued. I cannot find him as a member, but I was hoping I could ask you a question or two. I have a 2005 F150 5.4 and had a huge rattle in the front of the engine. My mechanic told me to get a cam phaser lock out kit and the parts to replace everything. Do you still recommend on Amazon for this? I have read mixed reviews on cam phaser lock out kits. Do you recommend one? I am not really sure what happens when you do put one on. Any help would be appreciated. I will continue reading and researching.
