Hi Gary, I'm changing a rear main seal of a 78 351M. There's been a thread started in the 73-79 forum and we've hit a little snag. You're the only one with some knowledge on these motors I can think of at the moment, and was thinking you could help me out!
Looking at my crank it's setup for a rope style seal, but the cap doesn't have the spike to stop the rope seal from spinning. No one has removed the spike, it's just not there. From what I've read if I use the rubber seal on a crank setup for the rope seal, it will always leak a little! Can you shed some light on this for me?
Oh yeah, the previous seal used was a rope style. About one inch of one
