ZF5 to 400
Gary, I'm looking at the same swap. I can't say how much I appreciate your exhaustive thread. I've read all but a few pages, many more than once! I still have a couple questions:
1. The clutch you ordered was an 11" for a 460... What year and model vehicle?
2. Did you have to drill your 400 flywheel for the 460 clutch? I had to do this in the past when swapping from a 460 to a 400 and wanted to reuse my brand new clutch.
3. Couldn't a 400 pressure plate be used with a 460 disc? I saw discussion of this in your thread, but couldn't find a definite answer.
4. Did you consider an internal slave ZF5?
I'm planning to do this in a 1948 F3 pickup. I've loved the 400 forever and they're 200 lbs lighter than a 460. Awesome torque, great sound. I'd put one in anything!
