The seals should be changed, too. And everything should be inspected for damage and replaced as needed.

    Hello Mark,
Changing the Friction and steel plates will be enough? or is more to replace there?
    Thanks

    All 2001 models are PWM.

Replacing the torque converter and the fluid are not going to fix this. You're just going to waste that money. This trans needs to be rebuilt.

    Hi Mark,

I have a question about the 4R100 in my 2001 SVT Lightning,. Is the front pump a PWM or NON-PWM?
I tried to figure it out searching on different sites on internet but I didn't find an answer, I hope you can answer my question.
I have troubles with the transmission again, I've rebuilt it 3 years ago with replacing almost everything except the TC.
The problem now is when cold it runs well but when it warms up it start to slip, first in the 2nd and later all gears are slipping until it doesn't move any further.
The ATF inside is Mercon V, looks clean but it smells burned, I will replace now the TC, the front pump and will fill it with Royal Purple Max ATF.
I need to know your opinion.

    Thanks a lot

I know. It's not the valves. How could one of those valves cause this?

Maybe one of the valves, I've Replaced the OEM Aluminum Valves with the TransGo Steel Line Regulator valves, I know it should be better not worse but who knows!

I believe you have a problem with the seals in the forward clutch. When cold the fluid is thicker and the seals stiffer so it seals better. As it gets warmer there is more leakage and the clutch won't apply.
