I think it's toast. At stall it should never have gone above 2200 RPM. 5000 RPM indicates that clutches are slipping. And pressures are REALLY low at stall, so I think the pump is probably trashed, or you have a major leak inside. Sorry.

Greetings Mark : Here are the stall test reading you advised me to take . In park at idle 65 psi / In drive at idle 70 psi /in drive stall 80psi @ 2200 / @ idle in rev 70psi /stall rev 5000 rpm 90-100 psi / Drive 1 idle 70psi stall @ 2300 @ 80 psi .Dr 2 idle 75 psi stall @ 2300 @ 80 psi . in reverse stall RPMs acts like a limiter is keeping RPM's from going over 5000 RPM's trans Temps never got over 165 deg F . What are your thoughts on the test ? Respectfully : Rick

You need to check stall RPM pressures. Idle only gives part of the story.

You set the parking brake and press the brake pedal with your left foot as hard as you can. Then with the trans in R, press the accelerator to the floor. Read the pressure, and release the accelerator. DO NOT HOLD THE ACCELERATOR ON THE FLOOR FOR MORE THAN 5 SECONDS, or you'll need a new torque converter. Let it idle in N or P for at least a minute before doing this again in D.

Hi Mark . I have a 1999 F250 4R100 2wd . After rebuild at first as I was putting fluid in I had all gears w solid engagement . Before I got it full . I have lost reverse . Also All forward gear shifted fine but now 1-2 shift only shifts to second if i let off the gas . I have PO500 code and PO781 . Now only PO500 code w OD lite blinking .temp 165 deg F . pressure in all positions 65-70 at idle same in rev. Will stuck vales cause this or do I need to look for something else ? New filter and fluid . Fluid brite red ,no burned smell .Also at idle reverse pressure does not increase .All gear pressure stays same while fluxuating 3-5 psi when shifter is changed . Any help will be valued

    Rick,

That's normal. Nothing to worry about.

1999 F250 4R100 trans 5.4 Triton .Upon adding pressure gauge and temp gauge to the test port It reads maximum temp of 160-170 degrees with no load ,which I feel should be fine . I measured flow rate in park at idle and it measures a little over 1 quart output in 15 seconds . Pressure reading with wet gauge from the test port on left side of trans reads 70 psi at curb ideal , But in park or in forward gears the least amount of rpm's above idle the pressure goes to140-160 psi . Above idle pressure seams too high to me . I expected to see maybe pressure on the high side in reverse, which in reverse above idle goes to 140-160 . That to me seems even a little high .Is this normal or do I have a problem ? If such high pressures are not normal . What could cause this ? I 'ii also add that on a wet gauge o-140 psi above idle pegs out the 140 psi gauge . Any input will be GREATLY APPRECIATED ! My name is Rick by the way .
