I wouldn't pay dealer prices. There are MANY independent shops that have the right equipment to read the codes.

Thanks Mark. Yes fluid is at the correct level and looks and smells new. I guess I will have to find someone with an IDS scanner. I just hate paying dealer prices to plug a computer in and pull codes. Lol

The place to start is always reading codes. It takes a Ford specific tool to read transmission codes. Generic OBDII readers won't do.

Also, is the fluid at the right level? How does it look and smell? Color? Odor?

Hi mark. Sorry to bother you. I have a 2004 6.0 that the tranny is slipping out of gear when shifting not the higher gears(456). I have seen the "flare" posts but doesn't seem the same. Mine will hit neutral until I lift up on the throttle(under half to full throttle). Under light throttle I have very little issue. You have any ideas?
