Hello, Yes I do have a '81 Ca. smog compliant F-150.

It's raining right now, but if you have a look in my gallery here...

    1981 Ford F150 4x2 - 1981 F-150 Explorer Custom

and then look at the engine pictures you will be able to see what the parts look like.

The 1981-1983 has the same type of smog components, but not all of the parts are interchangeable even if they look the same. They are tested and diagnosed the same way though.

First thing you need to do is repair all the vacuum lines. I'd start with one component at a time. Vacuum advance etc... then work up.

Forgot to mention that Fordzilla80 was under the impression that you have a 1981 300 I6 California Emissions compliant truck, and believes it is 100% complete as far as the factory emissions system goes.
    Thanks again.

Mister 81-F-150-Explorer - Fordzilla pointed me in your direction. Here's a copy of my post and dilema:

    I recently bought an '82 Stepside w/300 l6.
Hadn't been registered in years. DMV wants it smogged. Most of the vac lines
    were disconnected or cracked.
I got a Haynes manual but surprisingly it doesn't help cuz they left out '81
& '82 vac diagram. Under hood sticker is legible and I located a list of
    acronym definitions.
Humbly, I'll admit my true problem. - Between the color coding,
acronyms, check valves etc., my dyslexic mind becomes frustratingly lost.
Would it be possible for one of you fine folks to post some clear pics of a
stock, (CA approved), vac/emission setup? Actual photos of what is depicted
in the under hood diagram. I think I should be able to follow a visual if I
just had one to look at. I want to get my registration straightened out before
    I can begin modifying anything.

Thanks in advance for your time.
