A4LD rebuild
I live in the San Francisco Bay area, (Vallejo, CA). I was wondering, does any one know of a good transmission (A4LD trans, for 87 Bronco II)shop to do a complete and professional rebuild.
Thanks Joanne

A4LD rebuild
My A4LD went bad at 171,000 miles. This was the situation I faced:
1) replace with a junk yard tranny $400 to $700 depending on the salvage yard, with a three (3) day to ten (10) day warranty.
2) rebuilt at any local shops for $800 to $1100 with a 90-day warranty.
3) Buy a Remanufactured transmission at a auto parts chain store, prices $1300 to $1800 (ford dealer). Warranties varried.
I chose the REMAN, it came from Advance Auto, which was rebuilt by Accurate Transmissions (they have a website) for $1299. The trans came with a 15-month, 15000-mile warranty. This was the best all-around deal for me. The first transmission they sent me was bad, believe it or not. It went bad after 8000 miles, but the warranty was upheld and I got another rebuilt transmission. After 28000 miles, it is as good as new. Good luck in getting your Bronco back on the road.
