Wont run now with manual choke?
I just put in a manual choke and cable, got everything set and adjusted to where it opens and closes the way it should but.... it wont high idle and it wont stay running now?
I got the truck started earlier and drove it a bit to get gas since i was on e, but it shut off when i came to a stop about a mile away from home. as long as i was driving it it was fine, but when i slowed down i could feel it wanting to shut off and it finally did as i was almost home and i cruised into the driveway not running. I can keep it running when i start it but i have to keep my foot on the pedal and then it just shuts off when i let off of it... uuuuugggggghhhhhhhh... so tired of dealing with the choke system i could choke myself

Something that seems amiss is the fast idle screw and the ?notched selector? that it supposed to touch, when i dont have the choke engaged fully, it flops around? not sure if thats normal but???

Even with a manual choke, you still have to set the fast idle speed and fast idle index, just as you would with an automatic choke. With the choke engaged, the throttle stop should be on the high step of the fast idle cam. The hex screw in the plastic fast idle arm controls this. With the choke open, the fast idle linkage should drop out. During fast idle, the idle speed is controlled by the fast idle speed screw, which is separate from the curb idle screw.
Give the following post a read. It's meant for an automatic choke, but the theory behind the fast idle mechanism is the same. The only difference is you have to work the choke yourself, instead of it snapping shut for you.

when choke is fully engaged the fast idle speed screw needs to connect as a stopper to the choke cam as it will move towards the cab when the choke is engaged. then once the choke is disengaged the cam will "disconnect" and flop around freely?

Close - with the choke engaged, the fast idle cam rotates downward when you open the throttle. This makes the tip of the fast idle speed screw butt up against the fast idle cam, which pushes the throttle plates open farther (hence the higher idle). Once the choke is disengaged, the fast idle cam rotates upward and lets you close the throttle plates more (curb idle speed). At that point the fast idle cam is free to move.
