'97-F250-7.3L diesel....fuel filter location ???

hi guys,
I finally did my oil change.. 15 quarts of delo and a motorcraft filter.. about $50.00 bucks.., so, now.., where the heck is the fuel filter located on these things ?

oh.. and a little note for those of us that get some oil on our cement.. Pool Acid...Muriatic Acid..., gets rid of it pretty good.. wash afterwards with a lot of water.

thanks,
Kevin Rea

Fuel filter is right in the middle of the engine valley. Round bowl looking thing. Dead Center of the engine. spin that black top and the filter is inside there.

Its located in the valley of the motor. If you have the factory plastic engine cover on your truck then it is right under that. It round with a plastic lid with a imputed 1/2" square that you can remove with a 1/2" drive extension and ratchet.

The fuel filter is on top the block in the vavle. Maybe under the black motor cover. It the black round circle witha 1/2 drive square or tabs for a long screw driver!

Kevin get a big, I mean big pan and slide it under the engine! Push the yellow leaver to drain the filter housing on front left of housing. (water drain for water and fuel sepater). The lay a big screwdriver between to ears on the top of filter. Then turn counter clock wise and it will spin out! Then spin the new one in with new O ring! There easy to change. Alot better then Chevy and dodge. I change mine every 5,000 miles but most people do them 15 to 20,000 miles. You can skip the draining the filter part but it does some time make it easier to come out!

You might want to keep a spare one in your truck and a 1/2 drive breaker bar. When they clog the the motor usually sputters and dies rather quickly.

well, i changed my fuel filter. pretty easy. i like the replacement one that i got for it. it is just kind of all one piece..., that is the black cap is attached to it and you just use a 1/2" drive to tighten or loosen it.

didn't have to do a pan under it when i changed it.., just pulled it up in the desert where i live in the dirt.

Is there a secondary fuel filter that may be in the fuel tank?

1996 7.3L F350 Diesel Dually

Front tank seems to not be getting fuel. Whenever I switch from my third auxillary tank in bed or even my rear stock tank to the front tank..it drastically loses power and feels like it's gonna give. Even with a full tank of fuel. Does each tank have a separate pump and filter? What does this sound like?
Thanks
