I'm curious what the weight reduction is. I'm guessing it's 60-70 lbs or so. Maybe more with the reduced coolant.

I flushed my system twice. Once when I first bought it and removed the egr, and just a little while ago, when I upgraded my camper to 30ft bunkhouse. The second time I used the nitrite free Rotella.
I watched several videos online, and flushed my engine with a garden hose into the degas, with engine running, and block drain plug out. This was recommended by my trusted D-Mech, and to me it just makes sense to do it this way.
I really like this guy, the way he speaks makes me think he is reserved and conservative, imo.
I ran and drained the coolant several times, plugging and filling up completely between cycles. I did this until the water coming out did not have a bitter taste - lol, i know this is probably weird, but all you do it put your hand under the stream of water coming out of your engine/radiator and barely touch the tip of your tongue on your finger. I was very surprised that it continued to taste very bitter for many flush cycles. Since I was changing from gold to red, I really wanted to make sure that I got every bit of the gold coolant out.

I still recommend it. I've only put 15,000 miles on my truck in the past year and a half with a 2,000 mile trip in May. Much better deltas at 85 MPH. The key to switching is flush flush flush until you think you got it clean and flush two more times.
I did use a napa coolant flush additive about half way through which appeared to clean out a lot of garbage.
I also bought a vac lift on Amazon to make sure I got all the air out of the system.

I used the restore stuff from the Cummins dealer, can't remember off the top of my head exactly which one....flushed and filled 4-5 times with distilled and did the final fill with CAT ELC concentrate then topped off with the CAT ELC 50/50. I had about 40k on the truck when I did it and have had a coolant filter on the truck since new basically...
