I have read many threads on the 4wd solenoid from replacement to tapping on it to get you out of a jam. I try and use mine once in a while through out the summer, But I still have trouble here and there with it engaging quickly. It seems to take a little bit for the light to kick on. And the 4 LOW can really be time consuming sometimes to get in.

Is there any preventative maintainance that can be done to this set up to make the transition go easier and quicker before the snow season hits? Is there any lube or spray I can put on it to help? Even if I have to take it off to spray it, It would be worth it.

 

There is an updated solenoid you can get w/ a rainhat buillt into it to deflect the water away. This is the problem they have, the rain water comes down the windshield cowl and makes it's way into the solenoid itself and corrodes it.

 

They did this to my truck I believe because I had the same problem. Check with the....dealership... and they will know exactly what to do.
