headlight switch

hello i've got a 93 f-150 xl trim and I have been fighting with the headlight switch for a long time i've replaced it with a new one but maybe that one was faulty.

pull switch out and headlights come on and you have to wiggle it in and out a bit to get the taillights to come on, the instrument panel never lights up only until I fiddle with the switch by turning it and holding my breath.

So as far as I am concerned this sounds like a problem with the switch as far as I can tell.

So yeah hopefuly somebody can give me an idea as to what to do to fix this

oh yeah I forgot my 90 bronco started doing this as well.

thanks for the help

Can you still get a Motorcraft switch from the local Ford dealership?

Also check the plug on the wire harness, they will get hot a give trouble (won't make good connection at switch), the better parts stores will have replacements.

Ok so today I replaced the switch and plug with new ford parts and the problem is still there. it's like the switch is out of synch when you pull it out. you pull it out fully then push it in a bit to get the taillights and instrumet cluster to work.

i can live with this but i just don't like having other people driving my truck at night thinking the taillights are on when they are not.

Well, I guess that answers my question. Its good to know I can still get a new Ford one.

That sounds like a bad switch to me. I'm not sure what else would cause that. Every time I have seen that type of issue, it was the switch.
