Black Mamba Crate Motor

anybody have experiance with the Black Mamba?

The engine is spec. to be 425/880 not sure what the rev limit is.

Who is using this motor?

I've read about it, that's it. I don't recall who's tuning they are using for that HP/TQ spec. and rev limit is another tuning thing. I see that the price is negotiable. I'd be asking for credit for that "free" 75hp module or ask on a price for building a long block instead of a complete motor. IMHO it's really not a bad price for a complete motor though.

Not sure where you're at in NC but I can think you can do better for a lot less money from a "local" shop there.

Never heard of them but the price appears to be very good.

Unless your short block is toast I'd spend my money other places. Looks like the specs are 155cc injectors, stock everything else and studs.

What's the verdict ..does this engine get the thumbs up or down. Seems like a nice price for a complete!engine, to me anyways.

I know a guy that has it(that's because i told him) he's had it about 6 months.So far so good strong motors.

155s usually are good for 90HP not the 60HP that was in the specs posted in the thread. Unless they are tuned to be "weaker" 155s. That would be why they only say 60HP.

Some of that stuff isn't really needed for 420HP+ unless the engine was really "tired".

Tex kind of what I was trying to pint out. I was thinking about what you said and given the stock motor is 325hp rated they are claiming almost 100hp. Given the injectors are 60hp that would mean either they are changing nozzels, unrating the injectors or possibly not doing anything since 420hp is possible with tuning. Hence the 75hp inline module...

Going back to gassers, a lot of hipo engines did better with hi volume standard/lo press. pumps. The descriptions sometimes are ambiguous at best.

Also the turbo on it's stock. If I was going to drop a new create engine in my truck, I would also put a nice and big turbo in as well.

No expert but if you compare what is there and what you get from a Ford standard rebuild the price does seem good.

Quite a bit of that stuff though isn't needed for the output that the engine has. You could shop around and do a little bit better then that and get more HP/TQ output as well.

Also when I see the term "Stage II" beside anything, I would expect more power output as well. Stage II injectors can for sure handle more HP then 420.

My engine mods(just the engine mods alone) come under that ~7k price tag and have more HP. Now those other mods that I don't think are warrantied might lay a better foundation for even more HP then what I have now, but it won't be a street motor anymore or it will be a street motor with no manners.

Remeber the term 3/4 cam?? What did that really mean?
