Need Reccommendations for a good Back Up Camera

I have a 2004 F150 Supercrew and would like to install a backup camera. Any pictures of your installs and recommendations of a decent camera would be apprectiated.
Thanks!

Check out anything that has a license plate mount (uses the top two screws of the plate to secure it). Also look for a model that has a lock so that your investment remains in place.
A wireless unit will make your installation a little more simple, but that comes at an extra expense.

If you really wanted to go big, you could go with a tuner that also has a camera function. Look at the Edge products and you'll find what I'm referring to.

Someone out there makes a unit that integrates in to the tailgate handle. Only problem there is that the camera is then useless if you have the tailgate down.

I've had one similar to this one I bought at Wal-Mart for 5 years and it still works fine.

VR3 2.5" LCD Wireless Back-up Rear Camera Car System - eBay (item 230519304918 end time Sep-30-10 18:01:08 PDT)

I have one of these too, it is about 3 years old and it works good. The only problem I have with mine is that the monitor will occasionally loose signal for a few seconds.

I've had the VR3 for about a year and it is working very well. A few times I have parked in front of a store that has a wireless security camera system that is on the same frequency and I can see what is going on inside the store but nothing is wrong with that.

do yourself a favor & run live power with a switch to the rear unit---hooked mine to the backup light & when you are manoeuvering back and forth, it cuts out and takes time to stabilize each time.

Are you looking for just the camera or a packaged kit with monitor, camera and wiring? Is your radio stock or do you have an aftermarket with monitor capabilities?

The package units can be had on ebay, but you get what you pay for. The cameras are exposed to alot of abuse and need to be well made and water proof (not water resistant).

I got the camera below from Fry's Electronics (I believe the brand is Diesel) for $50. That was just the camera. I run it through my Pioneer Nav Headunit. It more expensive, harder to wire but very reliable. I punched out the tailgate lock to install the camera. I've got a locking tonneau cover so I didn't need the tailgate lock anyway.

I like what bridge did the best.

otherwise, the liscense plate cover cameras seem to be the best cheapest method I've seen

that is actually a Ford camera setup that came out in late 2007 and 2008+ models.

awesome setup. have it on my Expy. the screen is either in the Rearview mirror, or if you have the Nav radio, on the radio screen
