Anyone with a V 10 in a 50 F1?
I was intending on trying to run my Flathead 6 for a year or two b-4 replacing it with a newer powerplant. I knew the engine would turn over a bit so I tried to get it to turn over several revolutions by hand b-4 trying the starter motor. The truck had been sitting in a field since 1982 (under a cover). Long story short the engine turned about 1 and 3/4 revolution and stopped. I pulled the manifolds and the tappet covers to see what valve was stuck and found #5 exh. stuck hard. I tried a pry bar etc etc. I have had the engine soaking in PB blaster for over two weeks so thought that it should at least "ease" up and down with the proper incentive. The long and short of it is I have some light scoring in the bores loose fitting pistons and loose valve guides in several holes. I considered rebuilding the engine but it is not really what I have in mind for the future. I have a line on a complete V10 Ford that had been (slightly) totaled in an accident. I realize I even need the steering column in order to use the computer with the Ford pats system. The computer controls the transmission and several other things so I need the whole truck to get started. I do have a Ford 9" with 3:10 gears almost ready to go. Has anyone done this type on conversion in this group?
I plan on parting out the 6 as it has a lot of good stuff along with the 3 speed.

Not for the faint of heart or dreamers!
Yes, i think so, but I didn’t save the info / post.
I believe, because you don’t have 25 posts, you can not use the search feature (?) but there is a work around. Go to Google and search for many variations of v10, f1, etc, with this website or even this sub-forum as the location.
That is a big project that will take years to do and lots of money but if you have some of both I would do it.
