Sam, I figure one more assembly then tear down for individual paint on the parts... had to set the cab to be able to get the final fit on the flip front end... still lots of work there to do... I'll keep the frame wrapped till complete....

Walford... it's just a standard two ton engine lift... nothing special... and the color will be corvette Millenium Yellow... Chrome Yellow... Road strip yellow... you get the picture ??? Won't be at the nat's this year... maybe in a couple if I'm lucky and industrious .

POS... nothing to keep the strap in place but gravity... I remembered that the cab was front heavy and where I had the strap before... I got it a little off center side to side but it settled on the frame just right..

Ralph, no extension on the lift... but it is at it's limit for height... but it all worked fine... just jacked it up to max and rolled the frame in from the side. The wheel dollies made it much easier to wiggle around for alignment.

Pete,, keep plugging, you'll probably be riding long before me... right now money is not the hold up...time is... but there are some major expenditures...paint,, engine, interior... that will surely hold up progress...

later all

Looks great John! Very inspiring! Can't wait to see what's next.

Congrats on being able to see your garage floor. I'm looking forward to having the motor in the frame on mine so I can get access to my table saw which is currently blocked by an engine hoist and motor / transmission.

Outstanding progress. Always great to see a project in progress and this one is obviously well done. I have seen numerous people lifting cabs with doors attached and lifting on the door frames. In everyone's experience, is it preferable to lift with or without doors - or is it a non-issue? has anyone ever had a door frame bend or tweak a door or even roof in the process? I am planning on lifting mine with tractor front loader - anyone have an estimate of a cab weight - just do I know what to expect? Thanks!

well, the whole front clip has to be fitted to the cab and the lower fender parts glassed in... but I've found some places that used to fit well that don't now... I think the cab might not have been exactly right when we set up the front flip... this might cause some more than minor problems... more investigation is warranted.

*just a thinking out loud moment..*

These trucks are pretty darned light to begin with.. I wonder what the weight goes down to after aluminum engine parts (intake/heads/etc) and fiberglass body parts. That front clip looks like it would be a fairly significant cut in weight!
Nice progress... diggin it!

I'd estimate the cab weighs 300-400 #s... I can lift one end by myself without straining... I had to tilt it up a couple times lining it up... that's with the doors on and the seat, two mufflers, the steering column and misc junk inside it...

the front flip is also pretty light... two guys can also handle it with ease... I set this one on the truck by myself...carefully... probably 100-125 #s maybe a little less with the bottom of the fenders cut off\

Are you retaining the 460? I'm curious what your truck will show on the scale when you're complete.
