Okay this thread is several years old. I am looking at getting a New F-250 CCLB, I am going to replace a 95 F-250 XLT Super Cab. with 7.5L "460 CID" 4:11 rears. Any one have any problems with the 6.2L and what rear end do you recommend? If I was going Power Stroke I might get 3:73 rears. But I can not justify the $9000.00 for the motor being as I do not pull my Carson HiWay 25ft. cargo trail everyday.
Any thoughts?

I have had my 2015 6.2 with 4.30's for a few weeks, 1005 miles. The fuel mileage is comparable to my 2011 with 3.73's, but the drive is way better. The new one actually accelerates as you press the go pedal and it doesn't break loose and spin out on gravel! I haven't pulled with it yet, but I love the 4.30's so far.

Thanks for the heads up.
The milage can't be any worse than the 12.3 I get now with the 7.5l "460CID"

You didn't say 2 wheel or 4 wheel but I have a 15 F350 6.2L 4:30 2 wd dually it does a great job pulling my 13,000# fifth wheel and I also use it as a daily driver. My only complaint so far is the mileage isn't what I thought it would be. I have a little over 8000 mi and I am averaging 10.38 hand calculated with a little over 11 on the lie o meter.
All of my miles so far have been combo city/interstate. I ordered mine and got it in 8 weeks.

I ordered a F350 6.2 XLT 4by4 CCLB FX4 SRW 3.73 january 19th havent got any update from dealer yet they said 8 to 12 weeks that was it.The 3.73. vs 4.30 thing.....I went back and forth in my mind so many times. My 07 gmc 2500HD gas has 3.73 and it is fine.I saw a post on FTE someone said the 4.30 went through 3 gears before he got across a intersection. That was something to think about.I said hell with it and ordered 3.73 i figure just hold it a gear lower when loaded when needed.Basically the same thing. If i was pulling a load every day then yea go 4.30

You will be ok with the 3.73 gears. I haul 4000 lbs with truck cap and tools and sometimes a western plow which weighs 900 lbs. No issues hauling that. Good luck.
2015 f350 6.2 xlt cclb 3.73 4x4 5030 miles runs great!

You will be ok with the 3.73 gears. I considered the 4.30 gears but the dealer convinced me to stay with the 3.73's unless I would be towing real heavy a lot. I haul 1000 lbs with truck cap and tools and sometimes a western plow which weighs 900 lbs. No issues pulling that at all. Good luck.

Thanks guys for the input. I test drove a Lariat F-250 CC 4x4 Long bed Power Stroke, (what a sweet running truck) yesterday. I need to really re-think the initial out lay for the diesel as compared to the gas is horrendous, and then if we need 4x4 or 4x2 drive. Decisions, Decisions......

Beautiful truck.
Rode great with the 4" lift kit.
In the 4 years I owned it, I only engaged the 4wd once.
Yes, you have to ask yourself if you really need 4wd.
4wd = less fuel mileage, more initial cost and more $$ if repairs are needed to any of the the front drive stuff.
...but those 4wd cc duallies look awesome with a lift kit.

I think the 6.2 Gas is a better choice, with the 4.30 Rear ends. I run a 7.5L gas engine now in my 95. I get better mileage than the diesel, showed in the sync center.

F150 6.2L slipping on startup??
Hi Everyone,
I know this is an older thread but I have a 2014 F150 6.2L SuperCrew!! I love my truck and it just turned over 13K. I have noticed that at some complete stops at lights or stop signs that when I attempt to go again it seems that my transmission, engine or something slightly knocks as she engages. It's almost like something slips for a second then cuts in and she's perfect...Is this normal? Getting annoying now and starting to question if it's only in my head... Any input greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance
