distibutor question

i was wondering if anyone has ever put an HEI distibutor on their truck? is this even possible? i am wondering because im starting to buy parts to rebuild my engine and i want to keep the engine bay as clean as possible when i put the motor back in thanks. chuck

Are you making a show truck out of this vehicle? If so, yeah, you can even put a magneto on it if you wanted. It (the magneto) only needs one wire to ground it out to kill the motor. For the HEI, you will need a stand-alone harness/computer to run the injection. The mag would be best served with a carb swap.

If it's a street driven truck that might get inspected, it will not have the correct outputs to the ECM to make the engine run. Sorry. Neat stuff but not on our year Fords unless you like tinkering.

hmm then what kinda distributor should i look at? No it wont be a show truck more of an off road truck but nothing to0 crazy probly a set of 35s and a d60 front end swap

Ever get any help on this? I need a new distributor for my F350 460. Can someone give me suggestions? I would love something that could give me some extra power... but I am not a lottery winner.

i feel ya trust me i got a used one from the JY and im rebuilding it with aftermarket parts
