MPG EL 4X4

What kind of gas mileage are you guys getting out of your 4wd EL's? The window stickers on the 4wd's say 12 city and 17 highway. Seems a little low.

I know when you buy a vehicle this size gas mileage is not gonna be great, just curious to see what the real world numbers are.

Why does it seem low? It's a 4x4, heavier than 4x2 which is rated 12/18 I believe. It's all based on how you drive. I can get 20 on the freeway if I baby it, stay near speed limit, etc.

On a trip to FL this summer, going down driving the speed limit, 70ish on the interstate, average was 20.5mpg. Coming home, driving 75 to 80ish on the interstate, average was 19.5mpg. We made several stops on the way down and back for gas, food, site seeing etc. lol Was carrying about 300lbs in a hitch basket, 6 people, and probably 200lbs behind the 3rd row seats.

Combined highway/town driving since 15.6mpg. I usually don't exceed speed limit around home and most of the town driving are short runs of 5 to 10 miles.

ON EDIT: 2010 Expedition, EL, Limited, 4x4

I drive mine like I have places to go. It gets 16 mpg on the highway at 80 mph, loaded with stuff and bikes hanging off the back.

I get about 14 "around town", but my around town is more 35 mph 2-lanes than stop & go stuff.

I doubt you just "happen" to have a blue one!

Have you ever peeked at motorcitymarauders dot com ?

Hope you're enjoying your MM, I love mine... especially when the supercharger is screaming louder than my 3 sons in the back seat!
