New a new stock clutch 3sd, any advise

223 6cyl, 3 on the tree.

I have already adjusted the clutch pedal as much as I can. So I'm done with the easily fix. It's still not going into gear as easily as is use to and it's almost impossible to down shift in to second. With a little coaxing (bouncing on the shift lever) in ends up going in but it's a major hassle. I am assuming I need a new clutch, but If I'm mistaken please correct me.

After a little searching on the net I found this package deal from MACs.
http://macsautoparts.com/late-ford-pickup-clutch-pressure-plate-kit-disc-diameter-10quot-10-spline-6-cylinder-v8-11a-7550-kt/camid/FPU/cp/0Y0HREJZ1000017/

Is this a good deal? What else would I need? I assume I'll need to drop the transmission. Is there any seal or gaskets I should replace?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It miught be time. But have you also made sure your 2nd/3rd gear shift rod is adjusted correctly? Usually it's hard to get into first if you have a broken pressure plate spring, or it slips if the clutch disc is worn.

It's been awhile since I replaced a clutch. I would try calling NAPA to see if they carry the parts and price them just as a second opinion. The price quoted doesn't seem to be unreasonable to me.

I would definately replace both the transmission seals as long as you have it out - it's pretty easy. And of course you'll need to SAE 90 gear oil to replace that which you drain out of the transmission before you remove the drive shaft.

Take a look thru the inspection plate on top of the bellhousing, as you work the clutch. Is it really releasing? I wonder if the pilot bearing (bushing) is seized up?

Personally I prefer to buy clutch parts at my local NAPA. Easy to return if there is a problem, quality is good.

Well driving home yesterday it finally went completely out. The clutch pedal went from inguaging an inch off the floor to 1/2 an inch. And I had a !#@#! of a time getting it in and out of any grear. After coming to a complete stop I had to basicly slam it into first.

This has been an on going problem for the last year having to adjust the clutch pedal every couple of months. Replacing the clutch was just a matter of time.

From the pic below I can only see one transmission seal or oil seal(7052). I'll probably get a gasket set. What about the front bearing retainer(7050) does that have an oil seal built into it? Also is there a gasket inbetween the fly wheel houseing and motor?
