Removal of factory radio

Can anyone tell me how to go about removing the factory F250 radio without recking the trim? or please send me a link to a sticky i couldnt find anything.

Am thinking about a double din player to stick in there. also want to see if there is a plug in for the aux button at the back that people were talking about last week

Thanks in advance.

Yes, your factory 2005 radio has an AUX plug in the back. I've had mine out and it's there. To remove radio: Put steering wheel in full down position.... CAREFULLY, starting at drivers side, pry the moulding trim out with your fingers (Or you can use a narrow bladed screwdriver - don't chip the moulding)....work your way around towards the passenger side. I didn't remove mine completely and just held it out with left hand while I used a 1/4 drive set to remove the 4 bolts holding in the radio....remove the antenna cable and pwr/spk connectors and it'll come out the front.

I believe you should be able to remove the radio without pulling apart the dash. If your radio has the two small holes on each side of the head unit, you purchase the "hair-pin" release tool from an autoparts store (less then $20), insert them into the holes and pull the radio straight out. Simple.

They ditched the hair-pins in '05. You've got 4 screws that hold the radio in place now. Only way to get to them is to pop the dash bezel off.

Yep, pull the dash bezel and take out the 4 screws.

Just pulled mine out on Sat. to install a Kenwood Double DIN.

I unplugged everything from the dash to set it out of the way.

I've got the PAC SWI-X to control my Kenwood deck from the steering wheel. Works like a charm.

Did you find a reasonably priced cable to connect the AUX input to an iPod?

My '05 radio with the 'aux' button does not have an aux plug in the back of the radio. I had to order an adapter, waiting for it to come in the mail.

I have seen one on eBay but it is over $60. Where did you order from and how much was it?

Here is one that I found
FORD F-350 2005 05 AUX INPUT ADAPTER IPHONE/IPOD TOUCH - eBay (item 360286830767 end time Oct-01-10 13:42:27 PDT)

It will still need a cable from the RCA inputs to the iPod.
