ZF s5-42/400m durability??
My question is on torque capacity of s5-42. I know they are rated for 420 ftlbs torque. My next question is/problem is my 400 is gonna make to much torque after build or right at limit of this tranny. what is my next option in 5 speed manual tranny. does the 6speed bolt up to a big block bolt pattern. My 400 will be at 400ft lb torque to 450 ftlb TQ. does anybody have first hand experience with reliabiliity. this truck isn't a mudhole truck just a mountain/daily driver/highway. Catch you later.

As a daily driver and no sliding your foot off the clutch at 4000 rpm, it should be just fine, as long is the bearings are good to start with.
The next trans suitable for trucks would be the NV4500, which would require an adaptor.
AFAIK, the six speeds won't work as they use the diesel or modular bell pattern--integral bells, right?
