ok well i had a 87 f150, tranny messed up, half my fault, tried to fix it but wound up putting to much money in it sooo now i have found a 1996 f150 XL, it needs some work but for 500 bucks i would feel like a a$$ if i passed it up..
so story on the '96 is, current motor has a bottom end knock (ran out of oil) and the bed is a little rusty.. nothing major..
my motor in my 87 is in excelent condition so its going in the '96. first im going to start with taking it from a XL and make it a XTL as far as trim on the outside (i like the manule windows better than auto's)
the drive train is 302/m5od-r2
here are some pictures of it now.. only ones im going to have for a while, this build is going to be slow at first because this whole ordeal has put a huge dent in my wallet (i'm 16, going to be 17 at the end of the month)
pics..
rust..
