23 mpg freeway with the new 3.7...

This is a NICE fuel economy rating for the new F150. If the 3.7 moves the trucks around OK and proves to be dependable, it will be a really nice package for fleets or folks who travel big miles lightly loaded. Especially if we see gas go back up to $4-5 per gallon.

2011 Ford F-150's 3.7-liter V-6 Estimated at 23 MPG Highway - PickupTrucks.com News

Big thumbs up to Ford,
George

Identical to a 2010 Escape with the 3.0 and 4wd.

Pretty amazing stuff right there. The 3.7L will do the job just fine. People can't expect neck breaking power but their wallets will be thankful.

I'm kind of disappointed actually. Especially when we consider that the Ecoboost was rumored to get 17/26 for EPA ratings (as of the report about a month ago). I really expected the 3.7 to do even better.

Oh well, the industry is moving in the right direction and that's what matters most.

Take this for what its worth..... If you look at Ford's website under the new 2011 f150, check out the engine line. Its the 3.7 v6 that claims best in class fuel economy, not the 3.5 ecoboost. The other engines say nothing about best in class fuel economy. So... if the 3.7 v6 claims best in class fuel economy at 23mpg highway in the 2x4 version, what will an ecoboost get? Looks like under 23mpg highway?

17/26

If you want 26 mpg hiway, Mr F150 would have to go on a diet. 23 mpg on the hiway for a 5150 lb vehicle is pretty impressive.

Not really. When you consider that my 2010 with the 5.4 gets 21 mpg at 65 mph running about 1800 rpm now. While 23 mpg is great, it's not that much better. Now the big difference will be if it gets 3 to 4 mpg better while towing. That will be worth it for sure.
