HELP! (I need it!)

Hey guys, long time no see. I miss all you guys dearly. Anyways, I am having fun with my project truck. I am to the point where I am pulling the engine. This is where I am stuck. I want to pull the turbo off so I can get to the rear transmission beelhousing bolts with ease. So how do I get the turbo off? Cause I sure as F#%& can't figure it out. Also if there is by chance a good thread on here with a bunch of pictures that takes you threw the process I would galdly appreciate it, cause I am lost on how I should do it (Going to pull the engine then the tranny.)

Thanks guys,
God Bless.
Jesse P.

Never pulled an OBS turbo but...
Remove the bolts between the collector and the exhaust housing
Remove the 4 bolts between the pedestal and the block
Remove spider
Remove intake piping
Turbo should come out...

Now getting to the bolts is going to be the biggest challenge. The SD pedestal design is so much nicer...

You need a strong 1/4" swivel or a swivel socket for the rear one on the drivers side, extensions, adaptors, more swivels, etc... Have fun with that one.... the rest aren't bad

Can you get to it with something like a gear wrench?

I think the turbo has to come off before the engine can come out, unless you unbolt and move the cab first.

i had just pulled my engine, it will come out with the turbo. the bell housing bolts can be removed with just a ratchet. i have a 3ft extention with a swivel on it, makes bellhousing bolts a breeze. i also installed the engine with the tranny attached.

I'm with George. Pull it all together...

So what are you doing with the rest of your white truck when you're done?

I'm not sure if you can, I don't think so, this is what I read, all I read have done it this way, swivel socket or a swivel on a short socket.

I'd pull it off after the motor's out since george knows it will work.

I've heard / read that a 10 mm gear wrench will get to that nasty one. Haven't tried it myself yet though. Seems to me it would.

Good to know Pete. I don't care anymore as I eliminated the ebpv so its much easier now
I also don't plan on doing it again unless my money tree grows so I can upgrade someday down the road...

The bottom right (drivers side) turbo to collector bolt is no fun either. I sawed a wrench in half and used a pry bar on it.
