Has anyone had excessive noise from their air suspension compressor?
I have an 08 EL Limited and the pump for the air suspension has gotten really loud. It went on when I was sitting in my driveway and my wife (who was inside the house) asked me if that horrible noise was from my truck?
Sounds like something is loose and vibrating when it turns on. The pump clearly is working, as the car is level, but it sounds like I am running a table saw.
My Ford dealer couldn't make the thing turn on, so has no idea what to do. Short of replacing the motor, or at least removing it, not sure what to do. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
When mine started to get really loud I replaced it. When I took the old one off I noticed the rubber grommets that are supposed to isolate the vibrations were shot. I think the pump frame was hitting the inner fender. You might try checking that and if needed add something to isolate the pump better. Let me know if this fixes it. I kept my old pump incase I have a problem with the new one.
Update on the air suspension pump
the Dealer finally replaced the pump yesterday (after four visits) and it is now as quiet as it was when new.

Sorry never posted an update.....was away from the forum for some time.
I took mine in and the dealer replaced the pump. Considerably more quiet but I can still hear it kick in, but nothing like before when it sounded absolutely terrible.
I already replaced the whole air suspension system with something from the aftermarket after the stock one also made that loud hissing sound regularly. I think the stock air would have issues with the pump after a few years. In fairness though, at least ride quality wasn't affected even with that issue.
