Grill Compatiblility

I currently have a 65 F100 and need to replace a broken grill. I'd like to replace it with another model year grill, I'm not too keen on the 65 grill.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
<o></o>
I've looked through the threads which provided excellent information but I'd like to ensure that I'm interpreting the info correctly.<o></o>
<o></o>
1) The only grill that will work is a 1966 grill (if I want to keep the parking lights in the same position). Is this correct? If not what other year Grill will work? <o></o>
<o></o>
2) are the grill(s) drop-in replacements? Do they have the same mounting holes? Does the 65 headlight as assembly work? Do I need include any same year grill part to make it work?<o></o>
<o></o>
3) Will only f100 grills work or can I use grills from f150 and f250?<o></o>
<o></o>
Thanks again <o></o>

Welcome to FTE

1965/66's have the parking lights above the grilles, but all 1961/66 grilles interchange.

1961/64's have the parking lamps in the grilles.

The grilles are the same F100/350. Standard Cabs came with painted grilles, Custom Cabs with anodized aluminum grilles except for 1961, which had a chrome steel grille.

The headlamp assemblies are the same for all.

btw: An F150 grille will not fit, since F150's were introduced in 1975.

You can make any of the 61-66 grilles work. By changing upper valance to a valance used for the 61 64 grilles, you'll get a smooth looking valance. My opinion would be: And this is what I did, so it is my opinion. I used the 61-64 upper valance, (I have a 64) and put in a 66 grille. Fancy headlights with built in turn signal bulbs took care of the un-necessary 65-66 upper valance. Of course you have the 65-66 upper valance, so without changing it, your options are 65-66 grilles. I have seen 65-66 trucks with 61-64 grilles and 65-66 upper valance, but man was that ugly. My opinion.
