wow... what a response. what does your van have in it now? straight 6 or? i have heard, and seen a couple of these at car shows in the past. post some pics of whatcha got. some people must be on coffe overload huh?
I have a84 ford 300 in it now. I have a mew 65 comet 289 in my car. I know it will fit, but do i have to change the motor mounts.I know the trans. mount needs to be change. thanks, for your reply, I am not on foffee
ejam65 ED.
no the coffee remark was for the guy with the rude response. i do beleive you need to get a hold of some sbf motor mounts. i would measure the perches to see if those holding the big six are the right width. don't hold me to it but they might work. like i said though measure thats your best bet. sorry for the confusion on my coffe joke, but i have read a few of that guys remarks to other peoples post and they always seem to sound negative.
Thanks, for the info but I think i am going to keep the 300 in it,and put an auto, trans in it.I don't pay attention to big COFFEE drinkers.LOL
Thanks ejam65 ED.
Read the OP. "...do I have to change anything...."
Does that sound like someone with a handle on an engine change?
There are lots of posts like that here where people have no idea what they are getting in to, and some idea that switching to a completely different engine is simply a bolt in.
OK, so I admit I could have asked the question a different way, and I apologize to the OP for being jerk-like.
Hey, I gave you a link....
What automatic you thinking of? IF you want OD, AOD's from '88-93 are the better pick and have the proper bell pattern for your engine.
oh yeah? maybe your over your head even responding to some of these posts. check your attitude at the gate. some people just want a little input. yes i understand there are people asking ridiculous q's on this site, but look at the amount of members. this is the internet open to the world. sorry if i am being a jerk. just my 2 cents.
I know you know everything, about, everyting,This 289 takes a C-4 not a OD or A ADO's. By the way don"t try to give advice, to people you don:t know anything about. Stay cool and, I'LL forget you wrote me,
THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE,
ED. ejam65
AOD bolt pattern will fit a 289*/302, 351w, or 240/300, since you said "I think i am going to keep the 300 in it,and put an auto, trans in it...".
(*'65 1/2 and later 6 bolt bell.)
Now you know.
Advice to people I don't know? That's everyone. You came here and asked "do I have to change anything to put a 289 in the 66 van."
What, you just wanted people you know to answer? And you were so hot on it, and now you're going to keep the six?
I apologized to both you fellows, but that's not enough. Another cranky newcomer.
OK, so now are we past the comments? I remember helping my dad swap in a 289 into a 66 back in 69-70 something like that. I remember swapping the motor mounts but not much else. I'm sure some of the other members would know more if you listed the specifics of what you have (besides the 6) is it a 3 on the tree? Welcome to the site, there are a lot of knowledgeable and friendly folks here.
Good luck on your project,
Mark
