I am having trouble with new exterior handles.They like about one eight of an inch from seating against door.I have beveled the end of the square shaft but that did not help.

Does it seem like the shaft is too lang and hitting the opposite side of the door, or is the base just not fitting in the hole all the way.

Make sure the base is oriented so that the retaining screw hole is pointing toward the back of the truck. Also, cutting 1/8 inch off the end of the bolt won't hurt it.

friend and compared it to my new handle.My new handle appears
to be about a quarter inch to long.Thanks again.
