He had never seen that.
So bottom line is that i am dealing with the regen coming on without notification and more blue smoke than normal unti all is burned off. No need for new DPF.
Thanks to everyone who responded.
Also sounds like your tech is not aware that the latest flash deletes the continous regen message.

If you don't mind my asking, how much was the total turbo replacement bill? - thanks!

well, it started at $6,000 but the dealer paid $900 and Ford contributed. about $4,000. Now if i would of exclusively taken my truck to a Ford dealer for service, they would of paid for all parts. It was at 115,000 miles. 15,000 miles out of warranty. Now I make sure that i let engine cool down prior to turning off especially on hot days. I started doing so when new but stopped for some unknown reason.

I drive a 2008 6.4L F-250 as my "daily driver" in the Los Angeles area (about 25 miles to work). Not necessarily the best "commuter" vehicle but it's all I have. The regen mode has always bothered me... loud groaning noise on decel, reduced power, horrible fume smell in cab, etc. It seems to regen every couple days. I understand that in a perfect world, I am supposed to keep driving until the regen has completed, but I don't live in a perfect world. I drive to work, I drive home, and if it is in the middle of a regen (usually never completes) I park it and go inside. These regens are happening so often that I am now going to take the DPF off and have it professionally cleaned, then replace it. It seems that this should be a fairly easy task. I'm not really sure that I have a question, but would like to confirm that the DPF is easy to take off and would like to get any other opinions regarding the cleaning of the DPF to reduce the frequency of the regen mode. The cleaning is $200 and a replacement is $1,700. I thought it worth the $200 gamble before replacing the DPF.

its amazing the direction change that occured here once someone asked to post the dealer info...makes me think they read the thread and felt they got caught.

my take is if the turbo failed 2000 miles earlier, the DPF failure (if it really was a failure) should be covered as a continuance of the "in warranty " problem.

so becareful about being sent on your way which could be just an attempt to put more distance between the "in warranty" repair and this "continuance" issue.

DPF delete is absolutely essential. The DPF causes loss of HP, MPG, and extraordinarily high exhaust gas temps. decrease engine life. It's easy enough to do yourself. When I say easy be prepared to get pissed when you take on and off because you gonna have to put on *** into it to spread the exhaust enough to remove. The top bolt is longer than the rest. Then just take a piece of rebar, seriously tried several methods and this worked the best, and knock the stuffing out of it, then reattach. You HAVE to tune the trunk. My tune also doesn't run gasses thorough the EGR, so it's basically deleted but is all on the truck. So at first glance everything appears stock. I've seen a huge jump in throttle responce and HP. I run a mild tune, +40hp, and it is plenty. Also hwy mpg increased to 17. City stayed at about 11. It is a different truck. Feels like it runs like it should.
