Axle 11J, what is it?

This is for a 1979 F-100, 3 speed standard transmission.
I have seen a few posts asking about the "11J" axle.
The door tag definitely indicates 11J as the axle.
This truck is Canadian Made, which may be a factor when looking up the data.
I posted the door tag in "my garage", if you click on the picture enough it should get big enough to read.

Can anyone help?
Thanks
Andy K

J means it has power steering

I can't find any Ford Literature that lists an 11 as an axle code for 1979

The 1's for the AXLE code look different than the other 1's on the data plate

The Ford master parts manual doesn't list 11 for a '79 axle code. It does list 11 for 1978, that would be a 2.72 ratio Ford 9" non-locking 3750 lb capacity.
And, as steponit said, the J means power steering.

Thanks for the quick replies, I appreciate it.
J for power steering makes sense, it has power steering.
I know this truck was manufactured in 1979 (March), the rear end code could very well have been a holdover from 1978 - that is, a rear end from '78
Would the codes be different for Ford Canada?, that is, not in code books from the US?

Thanks again,
Andy K

Axle Tag

Finally located the axle tag - covered in dirt, rust, grease etc, not "sticking out" like some examples I saw so I didn't know what I was looking for ANYWAY, it reads:
2.72ED-D9TA-A3A
751738-2 MEX

Thanks

That axle is a Dana 44 with 2.72 gears. This is considered one of the "high-speed" rear ends used on '77-'79 F100s and F150s to improve gas mileage. I have the same axle in my '79 and asked the same question last year; here is the thread where NumberDummy decoded it for me:
