I'm sure you can just buy a probe, I don't know where though. Does your tranny shift solid or is it a little soft? If it's nice and solid it may be upgraded already, if the guy said it was "beefed" up. If you have any doubts and have the money I guess I'd change it.

I don't see a problem with using your old probe. Just make sure the tip of it is in the center of the pipe for the best reading. If you need just a probe you can buy them from different places.
I just bought the probe alone for my Autometer pyro gauge from Summit Racing. About $60

I have two 97 PSD's. One has an auto trany. I had it rebuilt last year; $3,500. I heard it was not a good idea to switch to synthetic after running conventional. So its not a bad idea after all?

T he 2nd pic is a DP but it's just showing to put the tip of the probe in the center of the pipe for best readings

Tap in probe IMO is the best

hey man, for the dp POST turbo, aw man im surprised i didnt cook my motor when i first brought it home, i hit 1400 post turbo... LOL then i swaped it to manifold and it rose ALOT faster. but that was with 160cc stage 1's, then i added the 6.0 IC and it pretty much rises slowly to 1200 degrees then stays there wont go over....till i run out of oil and it drops boost and smacks 1400 haha but that doesnt happen very often.

IC is most noticed when theres a load or pushing some boost. around the highway your temps are acturate, 600 degrees is normal at crusing speed the most ill hit is 725 on cruise up a hill.

Your numbers will become closer to accurate the longer you stay in constant conditions.
So If you punch it, yeah your off 300 degrees, but if you are crusing at a constant speed it'll be close.
