Don't suppose you've heard of the brother's annual quail hunt?

My shooting is simular
My wife wont eat them. Its just me, unless my son stops by he will eat them too.
Dove hunting is one of my favorite hunts. Sit down, open beer, wait and shoot.

Waiting on the south zone to open in Texas
September 17-October 31, 2010 and December 25-January 18, 2011

We use to go to Mexico and hunt years ago, it was fantastic almost warp the barrel from shooting. Can't get me to go near that spot anymore though.

This is excellent
Slice down one side of a jalapino dig it out clean. Place philly cream cheese in a plastic freezer bag, cut the corner off and fill the pepper with the cheese. Place the pepper in the seasoned bird, wrap with bacon and grill it golden brown remove and place into a preheated oven 350 deg for 10 to 15 min check them often and you will know when they are ready. mmm mmm My daughter will eat them when they are cooked this way.

Dont quite understand why you would dig out the good parts though.

Wow, I just stumbled into this thread, and that recipe sounds awesome. That might be good with quail also, thanks! I love bird hunting and I love cooking too.

The dove are just now coming into to the south zone of Texas. Its been dry about two weeks and I have been counting about 25 per day on the fly over. So I think its about time to go get some.

scububbs
I am sure it would work with Quail as well. But I would try bacon wrapped around the jalopino as well as around the quail. MMM MMM should make it nice and jucy, less dry than normal.

I'm going to give both methods a try, just as soon as I bag a few birds. If anyone is looking for a hunting partner anywhere close to Tucson let me know.

Hmmm
Bill
I guess thats the one near Oracle and not the one near Phoenix.

Houston to Phoenix
Roundtrip: from $272.00 + $30.60 taxes & fees = $302.60
Unsupported Browser

Driving 2.72 per gal diesel
Miles 1,203 mi
Time- 19 plus hrs
Round trip- 38 hrs
Cost 234.00 one way
Round trip 468.00
Beer- 30.00
Food- 50.00
Shells- 7.00/box x 8 = 56.00
Winchester Texas Heavy Dove and Quail Load Shotshells

Drive cost = 604.00
Fly cost= 398.00
Hmmm 46% savings

My wife would kill me, bright side is she could only do it once. lol

That is an awesome picture! My dogs are labs, not really suited to desert hunting, although I guess some guys use them to retreive.
Bill, the only place I've hunted quail around Tucson is up near Red Rock. I don't have a local hunting partner anymore, and unfortunately I've been working out of town a lot lately so finding a weekend to get out is hard. I think around the end of the month I have some free time. Hint.....
