Supercharger for F-250 5.4l 3V Triton

I am looking to gain some additonal power from my F-250 and have been doing some research on Superchargers. Does anyone know if someone makes a Supercharger kit for the 5.4 3V I have in my SuperDuty? I learned that the 5.4 in the Lightning truck is a totally different engine than the one in the SuperDuty. There are several Superchargers for that engine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

BK

Nobody that I know of makes a "kit" for a 3V F250. The 3V 5.4l F150 kit will fit with minor changes to the "kit", and a custom tune for the PCM. There will be minor fabrication to be done, and some things will be different, but the F150 will work fine.

When you say the F150 kit did you mean anyone's? I have been looking at the Kenne Bell Big bore 2.6 kit for the Lightning, but I understand the intake manifold on my 3V 5.4 is different than the lightning 5.4? who's F-150 kit are you referring to?

Thanks for the help.

There are 3 commonly available varieties of the 5.4L engine. The 2V 5.4L was used from '97-04. It's the same basic engine across the board including Lightning, F150, F250, F350, E-Series,etc. There are minor internal differences, but they all the same externally and dimensionally as far as what you're referring to. The other is the 4V version used in Lincoln Navigator/ Blackwood. Then there's the 3V version used on '04-up F150, and the '05-up F-250, F350. You have the 3V version, and ANY F150 supercharger "kit" designed to fit a 3V 5.4L will bolt right onto the engine of your F250's 3V 5.4L.

Go to the search menu and search for "supercharger" theres many topics on it.
Here is one of the more popular threads on the subject, specifically the Whipple.

I had a magnacharger on a 5.4 3v and would not recommend due to poor customer service. Go with whipple or Rousch.

You should also plan on a custom tune.

I would temper that by saying while, in general I agree that a 3V 5.4L F150 supercharger kit will work on his engine, there are a couple of primary things to be aware of

1) While the basics of the supercharger kit may "bolt right on", I'd imagine there may be anywhere from minor to major "replumbing" for lines, hoses, etc on both sides of the equation (truck and kit)

2) You will need to work with a competent tuner shop to build a custom tune to accomodate the supercharger in your setup.

Don't get me wrong, it's not rocket science, but I just don't want anyone to get the impression that all you have to do is go buy an F150 supercharger kit and slap it on over the weekend in your F250.

I agree it wont be plug and play. Probably the only issues would be with intercooler plumbing. Finding a competent tuner that can tune a supercharged 5.4 is a different story. Trust me BTDT.

I feel like that's pretty easy to understand.

3V cams are NOT a simple bolt-on, and tuning IS required for proper operation-no matter what the spec sheet or notes say.

No they are not,and even Comp states that tuning is required to "get the most" out of them. Comp could care less if your vehicle runs at it's optimal- they simply want to sell cams, and if it means stating half-truths,so be it.

with that logic, any brand new pickup needs tuning...

The point is, you can drop those NSR cams in and get the extra ~25hp, then the tune might get you another 1 or 2... which would not be worth it for most people.
