Glad you have the work, that's for sure!!! Lots of people losing work right now around construction companies, towing companies, etc. So any job is better than none. You just happen to have a job you enjoy which is freakin' awesome! I hate my job, but I like the pay. So I'm not sure whether I like it or not. lol

Haha, ya. I am pretty lucky for having a job, and very grateful. Now im done working though for the summer, gotta go back to school. Hopefully i can find a job over there so i definitely know how tough it is out there. Hopefully i will get my 5 speed before winter gets here and i can spend the winter building it up.

That red '95 looks nice. I'd stay away from the '94, I think you'd end up putting a lot of money into it.
I'm going with the 5-speed swap route when I get back to Oregon in a few months. I have my '88 F350 4x4 with the 7.3 IDI and ZF5 that I'll be swapping into my '95. After the trans/t-case is swapped then I'll be doing a RSK and 4x4 conversion. I like doing the work and I already have a lot of mods done on my truck so I dont' wanna sell and start over.

James the swap is so easy. Also you then have YOUR truck still that you know the history of and how it's been maitained. And that it runs good. And you can sell your parts from the auto rig and make money back. Be aware that a 5 speed is going to bring your mileage down due to the OD gear difference from the auto but a ZF 6 is muc closer to the OD gear of the auto! I'm super pleased with my handshaker. I didn't change the steering columns because my parts truck had no tilt nor cruise. I did pull ALL the auto components from my column though. I pushed the boot that sits at the base of the auto shifter inside the hole and it looks fine. One day I'll gt the right one but not now. Also the wheel lock mech is a td different.

Thanks Jacob, but i think at this point, if im going to swap trannies i will just throw in a built auto, not really worth all the hassle and money going into a manual just to have one. I think im going to throw my truck up on CL and see if anyone bites on it. I have seen a couple 5speeds around that have sparked my interest. So its either sell my truck and buy a 5speed or keep my truck and just throw in some go fast parts and wait for it to go boom, then built auto it is.

Agreed-with both statements. If you got the money I'd go with the built up auto as well. That's a luxury I can't afford. Guess I'm not understanding what he WANTS vs what he can or cannot AFFORD.

I want a truck with go fast parts and it wont happen the way the truck sits right now in my drive way so its either built auto, buy all the parts for a manual transmission and put all the man hours in the middle of the apartment parking area, or sell my truck and buy a 5speed truck. To me, putting a manual transmission in the truck i have now doesn't make sense. I will end up hacking up the truck and ill be into it costwise what i can have most of a built auto for.
