Marv, I have a battery tender ( for 2 batteries ) I use on my RV batteries. But it will only work on the truck if I disconnect one of the batteries. With both batteries hooked up it showes both as being charged. It maybe too smart for me.
Eight years is exceptional battery life, meaning your charging system must be very-well "in-tune" with your batteries and your driving habits. Obviously you service them, keeping them clean and full.
In September of 1998 we bought Alabama-build SUV that was equipped wit Spanish-made battery . The battery never had charger hooked up to it, left the truck only for other jobs, never had water added, was left sitting for 5 weeks at the time on several occasions, yet it was still working in September of 2010 when my son had to jump it twice on cold morning and finally decided to replace it.
I had several other experiences over the years where neglected batteries lasted longer, than those charged on the garage shelf.
Strange thing, but it does happen.

Bob,
Are the leads from the tender hooked to just one battery's terminals, or positive to one's positive terminal and negative to other battery?

Pop
No, It is a Dual battery Deltran Battery Tender. It has 2 pos. and 2 neg leads. I hook it up, 1 pos and 1 neg to each battery. I think it sees the other battery being charged and assumes it is the battery it is charging. I hope that makes sense. If I disconnect 1 ground cable it works fine

Wholly thread-revival, Batman, and with world-class run-on, unpunctuated sentences, too!
I just called my local Costco, and they don't have the group 65 batteries. Kind of surprised by that, and he said they all pretty much carry the same batteries. Anyone in the Tampa area get one from them, and can advise?
