NJ FTE members re: self-inspection

Apparently with the newly revised NJ Inspection laws, diesel trucks with gvwr 10k-17.999k only need a self inspection with respect to the emissions testing.

Is this simply taking it to a certified inspection mechanic and having him test the vehicle? I tried searching the NJMVC site, but wasn't able to find an explicit answer.

Anyone out there have to deal with this yet?

Thanks.

What i gathered from the site was the truck is exempt from emission testing, and the mechanical defects test is the self-inspection part
