rate muffler choice...

when it comes to our trucks, we got to have cool sounding pipes, mufflers etc...so which to choose from...

Porter mufflers...never had them and spendy...
Smithy's...Had these on my flathead coupe...sounded awesome...affordable
cherry bombs...never had them...

if you have youtube clips of your mufflers please post them...

I have Magnaflows on my 55.
I also had cherrybombs before finishing up.

the cherrybombs had more regular thump at idle than the magnaflows.
the magnaflows sound better at near full throttle.

Workin on a shoestring budget, i had an extra rt side exhaust for my '90 Suzuki Katana 750 motorcycle laying about. turns out it it was the same diameter pipe as my '53 215 6 popper. I cut the pipe, got a coupling and salvaged a couple of clamps, and taaa daaa, free exhaust. not only was there a frame member in line with the mounting tab welded on the skooter muffler, but it actually sounds pretty darn good. and it's chrome to boot lol

got flowmasters on my bird and they sound great with the 4.6 . my 53 however sounds a little "deeper" than ross's . i got headers , and elcheapo thrush 24 inchers , and twice pipes . it has a very deep , noticeable sound even upon fire up as it sets the alarm off on the wifes vehicle every time . nope she's still not back running , and i'm a techtard so i couldnt post a sound bite if i wanted too ....................

I'm thinking straight pipes, 2" er's, I'll clamp on a couple old mufflers for the inspection first though. All the harley guys around here, and there are lots of them, run straight pipes, so it won't be too noticeable...maybe except four times louder.....lol.

Me being straight laced and everything will put on some 'blue bottles' or something like that.
