You are always gonna find somebody that paid less than you did. Some of it comes down to the area you live in, the supply of available trucks, and the amount of time you have to keep looking for a bargain. These are some good ballpark figures but if you find a truck that is mechanically sound and you overpay a little you won't be near as disappointed as if you find what appears to be the greatest bargain and then have to basically rebuild it. Look for good value, not necessarily the lowest price. Good luck with your search.

Well, that might be fun, but my wife would not appreciate that!

My wife might be ok with that if your girlfriend is a massage therapist...

$6400 is high.
I'd rather find something much cheaper and replace the normal stuff myself so I know it's all good.
Instead of hoping that by paying $6400 the fuel pump, water pump, ps pump, vac pump, pulleys, HPOP, injectors, etc, etc, are good.

...But that's just me.

$6k for a 300k mile 2wd is just plain high for a '97.

Bought a '95 F350 crew cab PSD 2X4 with 130K for $4,200 begining of the summer. In great shape and already put over 8K mile on it with only a few minor problems. But after I bought it I was told that checking the coolant for the additive level is very important on a truck that has towed and worked hard or has high milage. I checked mine and it was fine so I lucked out there. With your high milage, definitely check the CSA levels. And negociate the hell out of the price.
