I have a '97 F-150 that just up and quit running.No Spark. ok, so figuring that it was the pickup coil in the distributor, i put in a new one. still no spark. OH by the way, i messed up and left the hood open and ran down the battery....yup....Doof! since i'm planning on putting in a 35.000 mile 5.8 soon, i also replaced the ecm. when i got the battery charged up, i ran a self test, and came up with code# 52....ECT module. popped in a new one, and NO SPARK!!! i've given it the obligatory puff of ether(FIRST) before i replaced anything to ensure that it WAS electrical. i have good fuel pressure at the Schrader valve. i have had the pickup coil and ecm tested, and both good. there is juice at the coil. i even popped the coil from the new motor in (new), and am at a total loss as to where to look now. after getting the #52 code, i now can only get #111(clear)code. the ECT did check out of range, as the brain indicated. could someone PLEASE help me out with a little directional guidance? YES I KNOW i should have checked out the modules before replacing them, but as i said...i'm going to swap out the engine, and didn't think i wanted to rely on the 189,000 Mi originals! any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
