I am thinking of selling the 7.3 and getting an 06-07 6.0L but not real familiar with this motor. I know it has its issues but wondering if the later 6.0's are a more reliable than the earlier? Just wondering what I can expect once this thing hits 100K miles.
You should expect nothing to change at 100K as long as you perform all of your maintenance according to the severe duty schedule that is in your manual from Ford. Anything less than that and you are rolling the dice so to speak.
And when Cubalz says maintenance he means it. OEM filters only and the 6.0 demands the proper maint. on everything to include the cooling and electrical systems. The 6.0 is a high maintenance gal that will reward you for the proper care and bite you in the a** if you ignore her. A/M gauges are also highly recommended to monitor such things as eot, ect tft voltage among others. I'm not trying to scare you, just let you know that the post epa diesel engines are not like the early diesels where you do the maint. when you feel like it or decide you have the time.
What is eot, ect tft? I am aware of guages that monitor egt's trans temp etc....but have not heard of those. Excuse the ignorance have dealt only with the 7.3.

Engine oil temp, engine coolant temp and tranny temp. Under normal driving conditions the eot should never exceed the ect by more than 15 degrees. If so then the oil cooler is plugging up and will also take out the egr cooler. The oil cooler cannot be unplugged, it must be replaced.
Get yourself an Edge Insight. It does everything you need and all you have to do is plug it into your OBDII port under your dash. Takes a minute to do, literally.
ScanGauge ll is a digital gauge that will read all the parameters from your OBD ll port except for egt and fuel press. I don't worry too much about egt because I'm not running a tunner and if running her hard towing I let the turbo cool down for 4 or 5 min. before shutting off the engine. The SanGauge is $159 bucks at Auto Zone.
