2010 f250 cc lariat 5.4 vs 2008 f350 cc lariat Diesel
Im in the market for my first superduty after driving my buddies jacked up one down in south florida. Im negotiatiing with both dealerships for these vehicles
1st one 2010 Ford F250 SuperDuty Lariat Crew Cab 5.4 Gas Engine 3200 miles Short Bed, Everything except Navigation, vs 2008 Ford F350 SuperDuty Crew Cab 6.4 Diesel Engine 28,000 miles Short Bed fully loaded. I plan on putting a 6 inch lift kit with 37 inch tires on this truck and keeping it for a while. I just cant decide between the two trucks because of the gas vs diesel engine discussions everyone has. I know diesels run forever, but i would like to get the best gas mileage possible and there are a ton of things to consider such as gas prices, fuel tank size, etc... The 08 has about 30,000 miles on it and thats like havin 5,000 on a gas engine. Both Trucks are very similary priced which is making this a tough decision. Im not sure if i check the 08 for the sync features, but the voice activated system in the 10 is extremly impressive. the trucks are identical, all black, except the 10 has the running lights and has grey bottom color. So i was wondering, which truck is worth getting if i plan on putting a couple thousand dollars into and keeping it for the long haul. WHich truck would you guys pick ?

Yea from what i heard the gas engine doesnt get good gas mileage, but the diesel doesnt seem to do much better in the newer superduty's except for the new engine. I dont plan on doing any towing with this truck thats why i never even thought about the diesel until i got onto this site....And 5th Wheel i def hear you on gettin the best bang for the buck but around my area every single truck ive found brand new diesel 2010 lariat is around 55-58k

Rebates
First you have to figure out what Ford rebates you qualify for. Ford now offers rebates based on where (zip code) your are going to register the truck vs. where you buy it. I bought a 10 Lariat CC/SB 6.4 4x4 MSRP $54K for $41K in Houston, TX on June 30th. That was when the rebates for diesels was $6K. I have read of others getting as much as $15k off of MSRP but I believe they qualified for rebates and discounts I did not such as recent college graduation or military, etc.
Figure out what you want trim and option wise and start calling dealers around you. Look at cars.com as well. Make them an offer if you find something you like. The closer to the end of the month you get, the better shot you have.
Good luck.

If you're going to work the truck get the diesel. If you going to mainly drive it just to look cool in a super duty, get the 5.4. With the lift kit expect your fuel mileage in either engine to suck, but gas is 20-25 cents per gallon less than diesel in my area. It all depends on your useage.
