Paint Jobs

Who has attempted or done a good paint job on their trucks?
Not no cheap stuff though. Also if taken to a custom paint shop, do you think if I do the prep work
myself and take off the brake and headlights and stuff like that, that they will lower the price?

Here is my paintjob on my truck. I forget what paint was used but it turned out OK. I have since taken the strip off the tailgate and an painting/pinstriping it to match the truck along with a big Ford decal. The pictures are old though, I have since added powdercoated wheels, stacks, toolbox, painted calipers, drums, etc.

I painted mine myself, used Nason Black Pearl. The paint, new panels, filler and primer cost me around $1000.

cdow21: Would you mind posting pics? Once it hits the $1000 mark I know they are higher quality paints and primers

This should be an interesting thread if pics are posted
and it keeps going on.

Last truck paint job I did, I shot TSC brand tractor enamel out of my good HVLP gun. That was by far the EASIEST paint I've ever shot. Laid down nice, was almost impossible to make run, and shined up really nice. Had I taken a buffer to that paint job, it would have sparkled.

Best part about it: that paint is $35/gallon
