Impressive MPG's

Well, my 2010 Focus has nearly 3K on it and she's delivering an average of 33.9 MPG's both hand calculated and what the lie ometer says. Our drives are a good mix of highway, city and suburban driving.

It is a small car and rides like a small car but $25.00 for two weeks driving can make me forget about all that.

I have had a couple of loaners when I had my truck in for service. Not a bad little car and it does get some impressive mpgs.

If you get one that is decked out it is pretty nice drive.

You oughtta see what the non-north american spec focus can achieve in MPG. The diesel powered Focus sold in europe and austrailia can hit closer to 50 MPG.

We had a 2001 Focus (four door sedan, 2.0 auto) and it got 25 mpg city and 35 mpg on the highway running 65-70. I loved that car except it didn't have the room for all the gear I have to carry for work.

I had a friend that had 2001 or something Focus, I didn't like it. She never broke anything on it so I couldn't get paid for fixing it I think she said she got 37mpg with hers. I had a Saturn SC2 that I got 37mpg with consistently, and will be the last GM I will ever buy.

don't know what the averages are but my v-8 4.6 bird can get 18-24 all depending on the driver and how you are driving it , in town , and i average 34.7 on the highway . so i hate to be the party pooper but them aren't that impressive for a small car . like rogue wolff said look at the figures non american built cars are getting , and god only knows why theres such a difference , and really weep . they blow their american counterparts away !!!!!!!!!!!!!! no matter what i'll stay with my bird , and my oldies ...................... oh yeah as you can tell most of the time i'm in no hurry and i usually run just under the posted limit as i like to take it easy . but i do occasionally get stupid too ........................ so the fuel average does depend alot on my "moods"

I agree with you in some fashion. I also got excellent MPG's from my '95 bird 4.6L on the highway. But the MPG's that I'm talking about are combined driving miles. Combination highway and city driving averaging out to be nearly 34 mpg's.

I have a '95 Saturn SL, I use it as my way to work vehicle. My mileage is from 28-33 city, and 38 hwy. Luckily, I have not had to do anything other than normal maintenance to this vehicle. I think the styling at Saturn was lousy, but the quality was very good (when it was Saturn... before it became a GM clone). My daughter owns a 2002 SL2, she dogs it all the way. But, her car still runs all day long.

But, I get 55 in my VW Rabbit!!

Best so far for the '96 is 18.5

I've got several customers who tell me that they get slightly over 40 MPG on trips.

All you diesel folks need to keep in mind that comparing MPG of diesel vehicles to gasoline vehicles is an apples-to-oranges comparison. Diesel generally contains 40% more energy per gallon, but one also (currently) pays a bit more for that extra energy.

That said, I think diesel is a better technology overall and we need to loosen the emissions regs a bit on it in this country to allow it to become more widespread.

Jason, getting about 19-20 MPG in town in his '89 Mazda B2200 4-banger, 5-speed.
