need firing order
My 86 pickup, 302/5 liter, daughter driving it for past yearmay have burnt exhaust valves. Bought used several years ago with about 90k miles. Was told by seller that engine had been completely rebuilt 15k miles prior.
anyway had ran fine, accelerator sticking some, could that be a weak spring on the cable where it attaches to link atop engine?
I need to know the correct firing order is it 1, 5, 4, 2, 6, 3, 7, 8?
Is it the same on EFI as other 302's? Some of my daughers friends, back yard mechanics put a distributor cap on for her and that is when it started running really bad (what I am told) Would barely run, one mechanic ran if for me after I god it back from my daughter and said he thought it had burnt exhaust valves. Could a messed up firing order cause the same type of extreme missing? Also, should I be able to wobble the distributor cap back and forth when it is clipped down on both sides? Seems kind of strange to me.
I am not a car guy obviously, this was supposed to be my wood hauling truck planned on less then a thousand miles a year and then my daughter needed a vehicle and it got about 7 - 8 k in the past year.
Does the rotor run counter clockwise. If the above firing order is right does the spark plug wire that is next number one on the cap the go to plug 5 and the next wire to plug 4, etc?
Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
pb
