Actually you are suppose to use your brakes to hold the vehicle at a traffic light on a hill. If that is what you're talking about.

Using the engine to hold the vehicle from rolling back on a hill at a light is not a good idea for many reasons.

I have been driving since 1973, and believe me I know how to operate a vehicle. All I'm saying is that this combination of motor and transmission seems to be very underpowered for the weight of the vehicle. Perhaps its no different with the V6..I don't know.

Like tcesni, I wonder what you mean by this?

Do you mean because of the weight of the vehicle and the I4 engine combined with the transmission, that when you are stopped at a traffic light on an incline, even if you give it gas the vehicle rolls back?

That's how it sounds to me, maybe I am wrong, don't know. If I am wrong, maybe you can explain what you mean.

By the way I been driving since 1960, doesn't mean I know how to drive....

hee. That's exactly what I was thinking. I listen to CarTalk w Click-n-Clack every now n then, and they get quite a few questions & comments about goofy stuff that folks do... and often times it's the know-it-all husbands. hee.

we bought a 08 xlt with the v6 and all i can say is it has way more power than the ones I drove with the I4. Granted the I4s where earlier models with more miles on them , so thats just my experience with them.

little disappointed about the MPG. Havent figured it yet but it seems my wife is needing to put more gas in than the 91 mustang w/2.3 aod she had. thanks for replies...............Ron
