In the ford workshop manual there is the procedure to replace the support bearing, so I would be checking out the price for the bearing only

Dealer and after mark shop I talked to say the hanger bearing on the 2005 F150 is not replaceable. Can you provide info on a supplier? Mine just failed, dealer wants $1,800 for the part, after market is $730 (labour not included). I've been told the entire shaft has to be replaced. I have 2005 2X4 XLT. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the information, I was able to find a supplier here in Ontario who could supply me with a new rear section of the drive shaft for much less than the dealer. Part is $575 plus shipping.

I just replaced my driveshaft in my 06 with one from Shocker Motorsports. I did a google search and gave them a call. I was quoted $1100+ from Ford. I got mine for $699 free shipping. It took about a half an hour to swap it out. And it can be serviced. Props to them as they were great to deal with. No more driveline vibration. I had previously done tire rebalance and rotate. Ebrake check, and had the trans checked.

You might be able to match the bearing , but do you realize the driveshaft at that area is welded,? and you would have to cut it apart , swap out bearing , and reweld it and most likely have to have it rebalanced ?

Are you saying you were able to purchase and install just the rear section of a 2005 2 wd driveshaft ?

I would have to ship the entire shaft and the shop would replace the rear section and rebalance.

Posting for reference

Had my carrier bearing go on my 07 2wd long bed f150.... found the truth that it wasn't serviceable, why not, they made wheel bearings non serviceable, no surprise.

Anyway, my bearing was still good, just the bond between the bearing and rubber isolator failed..... bought some time by pushing back in place and welding a piece of scrap to sleeve bearing sits in and bending the corners over to limit travel. Bought me time to order a serviceable driveshaft (have put about 1000 or so miles on without issue).

Thought this might help someone.

Planned on loading a pic, but this site doesn't let ya do that.
